The Saga of the Seaside Inn is one of the most multi-layered side quests featured in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Available starting in Chapter 7 after arriving in Costa del Sol, this objective requires Cloud and company to help Johnny repair his resort across several distinct phases. Navigating through the various tasks will take players across the Corel region and into Chapter 9 before total completion is possible.
Starting the Quest and Gathering Refurbishment Materials
To initiate the quest, speak with Johnny outside his hotel in Costa del Sol or pick up the assignment from the community noticeboard. Your first objective sends you to Costa Falls to meet two Johnny duplicates who lost their supplies near local ziplines. Exploring the elevated platforms around the region lets you collect up to eight bundles of refurbishment materials, though only four are strictly required to advance.
Collecting all eight bundles provides maximum quest credit and improves your overall completion score. Each item sits near the top of a zipline launch point scattered around the cliffs and gym areas. Returning these supplies to the pair allows the story to proceed to the next logistical obstacle.
Crafting the Boiler Valve at the Factory Ruins
The next phase requires traveling north to the Republic-Era Factory to assist another set of Johnnys who need a replacement valve. Before crafting the component, you must scan at least two Lifesprings in Corel to reveal the local Excavation Intel location. Using a chocobo to sniff out the buried transmuter chip unlocks the necessary recipe in your Item Transmuter.
You will need two Iron Ore, two Zinc Ore, and two Amethyst to successfully transmute the Boiler Valve. These mineral deposits are frequently found along the rocky paths of Mount Corel or near the factory itself. Delivering the item gets the machinery running again, setting up the final trial.
Stealing the Tonberry King's Crown in Chapter 9
The final stage of the quest requires reaching the Corel Desert, which only becomes accessible during Chapter 9 of the main story. After analyzing all six Lifesprings in the region, Chadley reveals the Classified Intel location housing the Tonberry King. Engaging this dangerous boss requires careful preparation to avoid its instant-death knife attacks and status ailments.
To obtain the required Pristine Crown, you must pressure the boss until its crown falls onto the ground. Equipping a party member with Steal Materia allows you to snag the crown before the monster retrieves it. Defeating the boss after securing the crown completes the prerequisite items needed for delivery.
Quest Rewards and Unlocking the Treasure Trove
Delivering the crown back to Johnny in the desert completes the active objectives and prompts a return to Costa del Sol. Finishing the quest rewards party experience, character experience, and increased affinity with Yuffie. You will also receive the special J-Squad card for your Queen's Blood collection.
Most importantly, completing the quest turns the hotel into Johnny's Treasure Trove, a centralized hub where Cloud can showcase collectible items earned throughout the entire adventure.
